MONDAYS

Created. Captured. Rescued. Response.
We passionately believe that the most urgent task is the compelling proclamation of the gospel, one that not only shares it in an attractive – and concentrated – way, but that also offers people a way of seeing reality, and of making sense of the world, history, and life that is vastly different from the story our modern culture tells.

Until this happens, the Christian faith is often experienced as a mere set of rules and disciplines, and simply going to Church isn’t likely to lead a person to embark on the great adventure that is following Jesus and continuing His mission of the rescuing of this world.

Each chapter of Becoming Women of the Word highlights the spiritual legacy of one or more women in the Old Testament. Their world was vastly different from ours, yet they faced the same questions we do: when we can’t feel God’s presence, where do we find help? When our world is collapsing, where is God? Why should we trust him? How can we trust him?  Christmyer simply and clearly draws from the lives of these women important principles that help us to trust—even as we struggle with doubt.

These unforgettable portraits create a colorful mosaic of faith, encouraging us to mine God’s Word for spiritual treasure and to pass on the gift.

Centering Prayer is a spiritual practice of silent prayer that fosters a deep relationship with God and is rooted in the awareness that God is dwelling within us.  At our center we are not empty but full of God’s love. Through Centering Prayer we seek a loving communion with God that strengthens us and makes us deeply receptive to God’s presence and action in our lives.  Members attend a group prayer meeting 1 hour a week and pray at home twice a day for 20 minutes.  Some weeks members read at home a few pages a week from books chosen by the group. Other activities during the year include a one day retreat,  a half day United Day of Prayer, and one morning a year for Mass and brunch together.

An Introduction to Vatican II begins by focusing on the reasons which gave rise to Vatican II. Dr. Jem Sullivan examines the common misconceptions regarding the council, explores its general principles and themes, and finally considers the key documents which emerged from the council. Dr. Sullivan proposes and faithfully considers such probing questions as…
    • Why study Vatican II?
    • What is the relationship between the Church and the Modern world?
    • How can the Church defend the deposit of faith given the rise of science and the loss of religiosity?
    • What is the essence of the Sacred Liturgy and how can it be most faithfully preserved?
    • Are the ministers of the Church in need of reform?
    • Or is the Church itself simply “outdated”?
The Church’s decision to form a council begins with Christ’s commission to “preach the Gospel to all nations.” The Magisterium is therefore given the task of teacher, and the responsibility of authentically interpreting the Word of God. Every Church council, including Vatican II, is first and foremost an ecclesial event that uniquely expresses, at a given moment in history, the divinely entrusted authority of the Magisterium and the communion of faith expressed in Church’s teaching office. If the Church is commissioned to teach, we as the Body of Christ must listen and continue to pass on the deposit of faith.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, we provide a Christ centered fellowship open to men
of all ages.

Our goal is to continually invite men to join in a closer spiritual relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and other Christian men.

As men of all ages, we come together on a regular basis throughout the year with the common purpose to learn, share, and grow in our roles and relationships as brothers, sons, husbands, fathers, and grandfathers.  We share our lives, personal experiences and our faith.  We are about fellowship, caring, and support of one another for we acknowledge the need and value of relationships with other Godly men as expressed in Sacred Scripture.

“Where a lone man may be overcome, two together can resist. A three ply card is not easily broken” (Eccl 4:12)

Attendance is at will, each meeting is independent, please come any time.

Cultivate a Rich and Lasting Prayer Life

You know prayer is important but still find it challenging. Perhaps it’s hard to find time, or you’re unsure what to do when you pray. Or maybe you feel discouraged by your weaknesses and your inability to overcome them.

If you have any of these feelings, you are not alone. Many of the saints struggled in prayer. They were like us. But each time they fell, they got up again and learned to rely more on God’s grace.

What God did in the lives of countless saints, he wants to do in the lives of ordinary people like us. And that’s what this study is about: the journey of prayer God wants to take us on.

SATURDAY

The goal of this ministry is to make men more Godly, better husbands and fathers, and strong community leaders. Over the past two years of the program, we have averaged over 50 men attending each week. Our next semester begins on September 9th. The theme is “All Things New” – REV 21:5. We meet on Saturday mornings in the Lobby of the Incarnation PAC. Sessions begin with breakfast and fellowship at 6:30, followed by a short video and small group discussion. We finish at 8:00. EVERY man who has attended the program found it to be uplifting and, in the break out groups, formed new and deep friendships.
