The God Centered Response Podcast is hosted by Mike Hoendorf, the Development Director at Incarnation, and will feature discussions with
Fr. Brian in regards to the Beacons of Light opportunity and other updates in our parish family. There will also be additional interviews with members of our Parish Family, where we will learn more about them and their role and hopes for the Beacons process.

Beacons of Light is a multi-year process of pastoral planning for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Groupings of parishes will come together as one faith community. These new “Families of Parishes” will be stronger, with the resources to focus more on a mission than on maintenance.  Pastors and parish leaders will then plan for the future of their Family of Parishes.

The goal is that as time moves along, the pastor delegates more duties to his staff, Decons, and the laity. Training will certainly be needed for all those involved.

The name of the individual church cannot easily change, if even possible, canonically.  A possibility is that each family adopts a new family name.  For example, Our family name could be “Nativity Catholic Church” and we would have “Incarnation Campus” and “St. Francis Campus”. During the transition process which will take years, we will strive to share our histories, cultures, etc. with our new family and learn about theirs as well.

The Archdiocese will be releasing a step-by-step process for all parish families to use as we move forward.  One of the first steps will be the creation of a “Beacon Committee” or such.  This group will include leadership from all the churches in the family as determined by the Pastor.

It is unlikely that this will occur in our situation.
