As you know we are beginning our strategic planning process for Our Lady of Light Family of Parishes. This process began with assessments to help us identify our strengths and weaknesses as a family. In our debrief meeting with ISPD (Institute of School and Parish Development), they found a lot of positive and hopeful feedback from these initial evaluations.
First, we conducted approximately 40 interviews with staff and leaders of our family:
Highlights from Interviews
▪ Good ministries and wonderful spiritual growth opportunities.
▪ Clergy are wonderful to work for and with.
▪ Stable leadership team
▪ Friendly, welcoming, and improving
▪ Great school – wonderful principal and faculty/staff.
▪ Convenient to have different mass times.
▪ Music is great.
▪ Need more help for priests.
▪ Communication is improving.
▪ Don’t fully understand everyone’s roles in BOL.
▪ To some, school is too private.
▪ Need to address facility issues on all campuses.
▪ Need more reverence at mass.
▪ Parishes need to see more about the school and visa-versa.
▪ Need to continue to focus on collaboration.
▪ Excited about the potential of BOL, but it is stressful.
▪ Still uncomfortable between the parishes, at times.
▪ Change can be onerous.
▪ Must re-engage our youth.
▪ Let’s schedule projects for both parishes.
▪ Appreciate the energy behind the processSecondly, we administered an open survey for Our Lady of Light Family this past April:
Ultimate Question Survey
o Promoters (score 9-10) are loyal enthusiasts who will keep talking positive and refer others, fueling growth.
• 10: 367 • 9: 132
There are a lot of positives in both of these assessments, as well as areas of improvement, that we should find hopeful for the future. In my next Flocknote I will share the written feedback from the Ultimate Question Survey.
Thank you very much for all that you do.
in Christ,
Fr. Brian
